Termite Treatment for Brisbane homes
Like most pests, termites take up residence in your home in search of moisture, food and shelter. These silent destroyers are attracted to wood, cellulose, and moisture, found abundantly in residential areas. They can enter through tiny cracks in foundations and walls, and build mud tunnels between the source of food and their nest. They are persistent and relentless. Unlike other pests, termites can cause great damage costing you thousands of dollars in repairs.
Once inside, they establish colonies, causing extensive structural damage over time. Their cryptic nature leads to unnoticed infestations and when you see a termite or termite damage it is often too late as damage has already been caused.
Prevention involves addressing moisture issues, sealing entry points, and regular termite inspections. Professional pest control is necessary for the effective eradication and long-term protection against these relentless invaders.
There are two ways to treat termites – physical barriers and chemical sprays.
Termite Treatment – Physical barriers
Physical barriers which prevent termite access to structures and vulnerable areas may be the most effective treatment against keeping them away from your property and protecting your investment. These barriers include stainless steel mesh, sand, crushed stone, or plastic sheeting installed around foundations or beneath concrete slabs.
By blocking termite entry points and creating termite-unfriendly conditions, they deter termites from infesting your home. Physical barriers can also be combined with baits and/or chemical treatments for further protection. Unlike chemical methods, physical barriers are non-toxic and long-lasting, providing sustainable termite control. Regular inspections and maintenance ensure the effectiveness of these barriers, safeguarding your home from costly termite damage.

Termite Treatment – Chemical Sprays
Chemical sprays effectively remove termites by targeting their central nervous systems or disrupting their ability to moult and therefore their reproduction. These sprays contain potent insecticides like bifenthrin or fipronil, applied to infested areas or directly into termite colonies. Once exposed, termites carry the toxins back to their nests, infecting others. The chemicals can also create a protective barrier around structures, preventing further infestation.
